I'm re-imaging a laptop for one a user (Toshiba Tecra8000) to Win95. I'm supposed to make a backup of the user's pst file to the network. The problem is I cant open the pst file on another PC it comes up as corrupt (with errors). Ive tried scanpst with no avail.
The puzzling bit is that the user can use the original pst without any problems. I've also tried copying it again to the network, then onto the new PC. Any idea's.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Have you tried creating the pst using the export function? Purge as much data as you can first. Is the version of outlook the same on the other computer (the one that said it was corrupt)?

Thanks Mattjurado much appreciated. But how do I use the export function? In addition to that are there ways I could cleanse the pst.

Thanks

Reading is the key to knowledge

Open outlook, look under the file menu for import/export. Choose export to a file, and the file type is a personal folder file (.pst).

If all else fails, there is a utility called scanpst.exe, which is used to recover corrups PST files. See the following link:

However exporting/restoring from backup and re-importing non-dupes is preferable. Be sure to back up what you have before proceeding.

Thanks guys, that's actually fixed it!

Which fixed, it the import/export method, or the utility mentioned?

Matt J.

The import-export method! Now I know what to do when this happens again. Thanks folks
