Hello,

I was flashing an Award BIOS and the computer crashed. Now the BIOS is corrupted and when I went back to flash it again the keyboard will now type caps only. This means NO NUMBERS, just the shift characters. Obviously I cannot complete the flash without indicating the correct file to flash.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Best

Some flash programs accept parameters allowing for BATch file processing. If your flash program allows this, then from a working computer, the BAT file can be written and transferred to the flash diskette. Have the flash diskette autoexec.bat point at this batch file.

Thank you but can you elaborate just a bit more? I am using the flash program provided by the motherboard manufacturer which is DFI. This is just a white box computer. :-(

It basically just comes up with an interface and asks you for the name of the file that you want to flash. Will I be able to do what you are suggesting?

I mean do I copy the autoexec.bat file from a working computer onto the flash diskette and then reference that file as the one to flash?

Thanks
Kathleen

kmmcdanie,
maybe that document will help. There's a step-by-step description of procedure needed to recover AWARD bios (page four, right after AMI instructions).

Hope that helps,
Mike

Thank you Mike!

That did the trick. Can't thank you enough!
