Hi

I have a PC that has been running locally for a while, and we now need this PC to be part of the domain. I've created the domain account, and have logged in as a completely separate user (\\domain\administrator). However...the account in question (\\computer\account) does not give me the 'copy to' option, it's greyed out. I don't think its a rights issue, as the \\computer\administrator account DOES have the 'copy to' button available.

Any bright ideas?

Cheers

Mike

You need to right click on My Computer and go to Advanced and then User Profiles.

Select the profile you want to copy and copy that to the new profile that you are using. Make sure that you are not logged in as either of these preferably but log in as admin and do this procedure.

Hope this helps,

Erik

Erm...that's exactly what I was doing! The button on that screen was the one that was greyed out, and I was logged in as a domain admin. As I said I don't think it's a rights issue necessarily, as I CAN copy the computer\administrator account profile fine.

Oh, I see. Well, you could try and log in as admin and then do a manual copy from the one to the other under Documents and Settings copy all the stuff from one user to the desired user.

Thanks for the suggestions, the fix was a lot easier than that - it needed a reboot! I had created an account to let me do the copy, and had logged in fine, but as I said, no 'copy to' available on the profile to be copied. Rebooted, logged straight back in to the same account, and 'copy to' was enabled. Very weird, I can't remember the last time I had to reboot for XP to pick up changes like that (bar initial domain setup).

Anyway, fixed and copied now, so thanks!
