Copy Throughput

I have a 100Mbps switched network. The users are complaining of slow network speeds. I have done some testing whereby I copy a file across the network. Using Ethereal I can see that the average througput is only 5 Mbps.

Does anyone know if this is normal or how to calculate what the throughput should be. I assume Windows OS may slow it down a bit but maybe not that much.

What switches? What topology? Do you have QoS configured?

Performance can be attritbuted to disk reads and writes.... why don't you test the throughput using TTCP or a windows version of TTCP.
