Is there a way that I can use SMS to simply copy a text file from the server to the client once per day? Do I have to go through the package creation for this?

Yeah, I saw that and removed the working dir entirely. From examples that I have seen it does not seem to be necessary.

or even make this blank

WorkingDirectory = "";

I think you can remove the c:\ from the Package Program "START IN" dialog box.

Yes, that is what I did.

In that troubleshooting doc it appears that they mapped a drive from the workstation to the SMS Server package dir. Should this be done?

Ah ha! Application2003.exe isn’t present, Application2003.2.exe is! The less illustrated version:



C:\Documents and Settings\richardt>net use * \\SMSSERVER\smspkge$

Drive Z: is now connected to \\SMSSERVER\smspkge$.



The command completed successfully.





C:\Documents and Settings\richardt>z:



Z:\>cd ABC00005



Z:\ABC00005>dir

Volume in drive Z is SMS

Volume Serial Number is A895-F8E8

That is almost at the end of the doc.

What is the question? "In that troubleshooting doc it appears that they mapped a drive from the workstation to the SMS Server package dir" Yes, they did this in the troubleshooting document to troubleshoot a problem. By connecting to the SMS package directory, they discovered that the EXE targeted in the SMS package was mistyped.

There is no reason to map the drive unless you are troubleshooting a problem.

Do I have to put my packages in a specific dir or does the one that I browse to when I create my package suffice? Package in SMS that is.

Could there be some problem between the server and the client? Should I maybe uninstall the client and then push out the client install again?

Is there a reason why I cannot find a folder/share called smspkg"drive letter"$ on my sms server?

Its not a share ;)

look directly on a array such as \\smserver\d$ it will be on the largest empty drive, and possibly on multiple drives of the server
