Thanks -- I followed that procedure to create the default profile initially on one computer. I was able to successfully copy the files to a network computer by overwriting all files in the DefaultUsers profile. So my original question has been answered.
I understand your point about roaming/mandatory profiles. I have been researching them. I'm totally confused!!
Here's my situation: We're beginning to replace WIN98 computers with new WINXP Pro ones all over our school. We have 550 students each with his/her own log on. The way I understand it, each user who logs on in WINXP creates a local profile when s/he logs on. I would like to avoid having hundreds of profiles on each computer in our lab! I tried roaming profiles, but it still created a local copy of the profile.
Someone out there must know what I can do! THanks!
