Thank you in advanced for your help. I need to know how to transfer files and folders from the local machine into the Terminal Server? Can anyone explain the steps I need to perform. Thank you

It is very nice to be important but it is very important to be nice.

If you are using Remote Desktop Connections and you wish to transfer files you need a Terminal Services FTP software. there are a few of these available from
If you are not using Remote Dektop Connection software i need some more info, which end of the TS are your transfering from and too.

Client to Server
or
Server to Client

Also you copy the file through the network into a shared folder.

Let me know how you get on.

Thank you for the fast response. All users are using RDC and they want to copy and paste files and folders from the local machine into a shortcut thats a folder on a server. The shortcut is on their TS profile desktop. If they logon to theis TS profile a shortcut called Manscr is showing on their desktop which is a folder on a different server. How to copy and paste files and folders from local machine to that shortcut on the TS desktop/shortcut? We have a Win2K server and Win XP as clients.

It is very nice to be important but it is very important to be nice.

Sure, i think i understand.

Download the TsFTP software, install this app on the server they are conecting too.

Then establish the RDC, you can then run the FTP software in the RDC and it lets you trasfer files too and from the local machine you are on.

Give it a go, most of them you have to pay for but they usualy have a 30-day trial, give it a go and let me know if its what ure after.

if its not then we can work on another try.

There is a program witl the win2k resource kit called "rdclip"

that might be what you're looking for

It is very nice to be important but it is very important to be nice.

Thank you. I got it and install it. I know is too much to ask but can you give me couple of steps on how this software is suppose to work. I do really appreciate your help

It is very nice to be important but it is very important to be nice.

sure, no probs bud.

1. Install the server version onto the server

2. install the client version onto the client.

3. Connect to the server with the FTP software installed on it using RDC.

4. Open the FTP appllication on the server through the RDC.

5. The list on the left is the files on the server

6. The list on the right is the files on your local machine.

7. Select the files destination location in the left window

8. Select the file you wish to transfer in the right window i.e. word.doc

9. Click the left facing green arrow to begin the transfer.

this is only a bsic guide so hope it helps.

This question is for SGTRawlins about TsFTP software. Is this software to be used for one user only or it can be installed on as many users you want?

It is very nice to be important but it is very important to be nice.

Thank you for your help SGTRawlins but is not going to work. I have installed it as per your instructions but the user can see more than he/she is suppose to. Any other bright ideas?

It is very nice to be important but it is very important to be nice.

I once knew a SGT Rawlins in the 201st. Wouldn't be one and the same, would it?

Care to explain this!!!!!!!!!

It is very nice to be important but it is very important to be nice.

Nope, Different SGT Rawlins i am affraid, I have never actualy served!

As for ideas! i am all out i think!, you could always find the folder your user needs to access and map it as a network drive to the local machine, they could then copy files too an from?!

Let me know.

SGTRawlins you been a great help but that wont work either. You see the users are outside US.They logon to my TS and they need to transfer the files or folders from their local machine into the TS session opened and vice versa.I dont think that I can find ways to do this without compromissing the safety and privacy of other folders and files on the TS server.

It is very nice to be important but it is very important to be nice.

OK, no probs, i am fresh out of ideas now, will keep on the back burner and if anything springs to mind i will let you know.

Thank you buddy. You been a great help. Thanks for your support. Have a good one.
