copy an infoview report for another server

hi all,

i am having problems trying to locate the files that infoview creates, searched the hard drive x amount of times on different possibilities and still nothing!!!

i have 3 complex reports on our dev server, i need to get them onto our live server asap, but other than recreating the whole thing over again i cannot find a way!!!

any ideas???

What kind of docs are these? What version of WebI are you using?

The only way to move reports from 1 server to another is to make them personal documents. You need to have a clean ID to do this (one with no other personal docs). You'll have to deal with the numbering scheme and the index file to figure out how to rename the files. Also do a search on busobj.forumtopics.com. You'll find alot more info over there.

unfortunately every action i tried, failed.

tried to copy file structures and renaming etc but to no avail, so i'd wasted to much time trying to get them across without having to recreate.

I bit the bullet and went ahead and recreated them, was annoying but its done now!!!!

i do need to find out so any new reports i write today i can copy back to the development folder (i'm having to port through to client server as i have a rather heavy deadline of monday morning!!!)

been on busobj forum (started there) and unfortunately not got any leads from that!!!

It's really quite easy.

Find the file that has the report. The easiest way to do this is to send it to a user that has not other reports in their inbox.

Copy the file to the other server into the personal documents storage directory for a user that has publish privileges. When you do this, rename it to whatever name you want it to have. Also delete the index files in that directory.

Log on as that user and look at the personal documents. Then you'll see your report and can open it and then publish it. Publish the report and then clean out the folder again.
