I'm connecting a Norstar to two other offices (all different systems) via a Multitech VoIP box.

I want to be able to use the Norstar routing, so I need to use a trunk port of some type. The VoIP box will not pass DTMF on when it is configured for FXS mode so I can't use regular LS cards.

Are the Norstar DID cards two way? In other words can you dial out on them as well as receive calls. Or would E&M cards be better?

Thanks!

The E/M cards would be better. They are 2-way, DID is 1-way IN only.

Or what about PRI ISDN?

It provides 23B +D depending on your requirements for traffic.

Thanks for your response. We do have a PRI for the incoming lines at this customer. I think it would be overkill for the remote offices.

E/M only has two ports per card, correct?

I've worked on Norstar for years but have only had one system with analog DIDs and none with analog E/M.

Thanks Again!

Each E/M Module supports two trunks.

But you might consider your overall traffic capacity between offices and if you have any data linkage requirements. This way you could share a DS1 for both voice and data with the appropriate hardware on both ends . Some equipment gives you the ability to taylor bandwith requirements so that might be helpful for the customer if their needs change.
