After converting PM6.5 files to PDF I find that all imported tiff and JPG images seem to lose definition and become fuzzy. Can anyone help me with this problem?
I'd be most grateful.
Hello,
Here are a couple of things to check for:
What driver are you using to create the PS file from pagemaker? Is it the adobe postscript driver or one for your printer. Usually the adobe drive will give a better PS file and then you get a better PDF.
Also, check the links manager. Is the link for the graphics broken or is the orginal image missing? This could cause this problem.
Good Luck!
Hi,
Some more things to look for, what is the compression rate for images you used in your pdf file. If it is 72 dpi, put it to a lower compression rate let's say 200 dpi if the is used for printing or higher if you wan't it to be pressed optimised.
On the other hand I wouldn't advise to place jpeg's in the pm file and make a pdf file from that. Jpeg is already a compression of the tiff or eps file with a certain loss of quality, if you make a pdf then again you are going to make a compression of the already compressed files.
Be sure when you make the ps or eps from pm that you embed the placed images in the ps-file. Otherwise pagemaker includes only the screen information that it needs to make the placed file visible on your screen.
