Hi all,

I just converted my database from 97 to 2000. Everything look fine but none of the buttons on the forms work. When I tried looking at the code it gives me this error 'Error accessing file. Network connection may have been lost.'

My network connection is fine. When i tried adding a new button, I get all the way to the last step, click Finish and this error pops up 'Method Module of object _Form_Student failed.

If anyone has any insight into these problems please help.

Thank You.

Marlon

NB. I did'nt actually convert, i created a new database and imported all the tables, queries etc.

Marion:

This is a known problem with Access 2K.

For some reason, when 97 modules are imported to 2K and not immediately compiled the problem you report is encountered.

Try doing an actual conversion and see if that does not eliminate the problem. Larry De Laruelle

I did not convert my database. It was created in Access 2000 and I have this same error message. Any suggestions.

Also the MS Knowledge Base website is down at the moment.

Sharon:

Is this a generic error or does it happen only on a specific object/s?

The first thing I would try is Compact/Repair to see if that does not fix the problem.

Another option would be to create a new, blank database and import all of the objects.

If these do not work, try to decompile the database. Fancy Prairie has a recent post about this undocumented feature. Do a Keyword search on 'Decompile' and it should pop up in the results. (For some reason, I can't seem to copy paste links or I would have included it.)

Keep us posted on your progress.

Evalesthy, thank you for the tip on article Q304548. This error has plagued me twice and the article points out the cause and solution.
