I lost the settings to my CISCO 802 ISDN router and now I have to reconfigure it. Since I don't know jack squat about IOS, I've been using the Cisco Fast Setup program to configure my router but I don't have all of the original settings except for an old IOS file from the original configuration. How do I transfer that file to the router using the Fast Setup software? Is there a way to convert an .ios file to the .cfg file that the Fast Setup program wants?

let me see if I understand what you mean:
you've lost the configuration -settings- of your 802 router, but the router is works, but need to be configured.
The router runs on a IOS image, which is a .bin file, you might mean the .ios file. The configuration of the router is a .cfg file if you have tftp'd the config to your pc. A .bin file isn't the same as a .cfg file and the .bin file doesn't have your config.
To confirm, do a 'show version' and you might see the image file -.bin- in there which is the same as the .ios you mentioned.

CCNA, CCNP..partly ;)
