Hello all,

our graphics super-woman has created our annual reports (2 of them) in QuarkXPress 5.0 Now I need to be able to post them in html.

First, I can't seem to save it as anything other than qxd or qxt. There is "Export - html" from the file menu - but that isn't available.

If I create a new web document - cut and paste from her file to the new web one I just opened - THEN I can export as html. That would be fine except I can only grab one of her pages at a time (I can't seem to select all the info from all the pages!)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

-Sean

only seems to let me do one page at a time (and they're 44 pages each!)

How about creating them as PDF files, and then posting them on the intranet?? If you can't fix it in 20 minutes call someone who can.

Hey P20,

those days are gone now I'm afraid! New government policy is that you can't just post a pdf anymore, you have to have at least an html page (to help those you are visually impaired, etc..).

Is there a fast way to convert my qxd to a qwd? I managed to eventually do it - but all the text boxes become images which is not good seeing as the user may have switched the graphics off of his/her browser.

Thanks,

-Sean

Even for government accessibility standards, you should be able to get by with a PDF AND a plain text file.

1) Do your pretty layout in Quark and export to PDF.
2) Copy the story from the Quark doc to a plain text file. The plain text file is for an audible reader for the visually impaired. Plain text is much more compatible with screen readers than formatted HTML. They sometimes get hung up on javascript and text that jumps from cell to cell.

Offer links to either format.

(I can't seem to select all the info from all the pages!)
Quark is limited with HTML. You are stuck with copying one page at a time with your method.

Thanks jimoblak,

I can make most of the file the way you said - but some of the stuff are in tables. I'll manage though.

I've been discussing this issue with a few people from the quark message boards. The consensus there is that ver. 4 did a much better job at converting to html than ver. 5, and a couple of them have switched back because of it.

Thanks again,

-Sean
