Just starting to learn a bit of CSS layout - still using tables as the projectseven.com CSS Table Design tutorial.

What I'm wondering, is how I would be able to use my redo my current page(s) which use layers to contain tables of drop down menus using CSS and, preferrably, no tables?

Hope this makes sense.

My current site is below.

Thanks for any help,
Max

look at the tables and layers as being "building blocks or bricks" while CSS is the "paint" over them....show/hide will work the same!
all the best!

Thanks for the encouragement, lebisol.

I guess I'm just wondering if I can just add CSS definitions for my existing layers, and then move the rest of the stuff that's in the table to body, H1 styles, etc.

Thanks,
Max

hi Max!
( I thought the name was familliar :) )It seems that the trend/design is going towards layers...I am still a fan of good-old table.based design.
CSS and layers are defintely "nicer" elements to use since they have (design wise) cleaner look than tables and cut down on the HTML code lenght etc.
On the other side, you have to consider cross-browser compatibility and all....depends on your target of the visitor. Honestly I have stopped chasing the new version of NN and IE...I never really did care about the fact that new version have support for this or that...I take NN4.X and IE 5 as a happy meduim and design for those platforms...anything that works on these version will work on the new ones as well. After all...browser was supposed to only "browse".....in the begining of it all :)
All the best!

Thanks, lebisol.

I'm actually considering (more for the learning curve) doing a pure CSS/layer version and a table version for older browsers.

Great link.

Thanks again,
Max

[shadeshappy] great!
--> "for the learning curve"

it is nice to do something "for the soul" vs. "for the boss"
have fun!
