I am trying to convert dates
from 01/01/70 to 010170 and add a students
intials to the start of it to make a simple password,
e.g.
sa010170

Using a custom format I have got 010170
Using the Left Funtion I have got the intials from Surname and Forname,
then I was going to use CONCATENATE to put it all together.
but it puts 5 what looks like random numbers after it not the date. sa35728!!!

Please help..!

Thanks,

Dates are held as serial numbers and then formatted to look like a date - you are having the serial number concatenated

You can get around this by using the TEXT function eg

="sa" & TEXT(TheDate,"ddmmyy")

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.
