Has anyone converted and if so, were you able to migrate or did you have to shut the MLT down and rebuild it? Any additional information would be appreciated.

The SMLT is built off the MLT.If you build the SMLT from the GUI you will have to fail over or reboot one side of the SMLT in order to complete the conversion. If you build the SMLT from command prompt you will not have to reboot. Remeber to build an IST between the 2 8600 first. Same thing applies. Build it from command prompt so that you will not have to reboot an 8600. When creating an IST or an SMLT traffic will be interrupted when OS applies changes to MLT. From are test bed we found that to be about 9 pings. Do not know if that is always the case. Hope this helps.

My suggestions are what I would try myself. If incorrect, I welcome corrections to my knowledge.

Do your config via the CLI, Device Manager tends to produce unreliable results.
