Controlling Key Lights

At one point, there were DOS TSR programs that could control the key lights for NumLock and so forth. You could basically enable and disable the light without changing the state of NumLock.

Just out of curiosity, I've been trying to do this through Visual Basic. I'm still coming up short in my searches for different things along these lines.

If anyone could help push me in certain directions, it would be greatly appreciated.
