i have to run certain number of frames (say 50) on click of first button . on click of button button next 50 frames to run. hoe to acive this when my movie is an avi file and controller is flash file

controlling avi through flash

You'll have to import each individual frame of your avi file. Turn that into a movie clip and then control it with your buttons.
You would, for instance have stop actions on frames 50 and 100, so button 1 plays the clip until it stops on frame 50, and button 2 again starts the clip playing until it stops on frame 100, etc.. etc..
