Fellow forumers,

Does anyone know of a good, linkable, guide to the possible arguments for these two statements:

control xxxxxxxxxxx
rundll32 xxxxxxxxxx

I have informally collected many usefull ones, but I have yet to find a guide to the possible Windows XP arguments one could make. I understand that the second one in particular may have a lot of parameter values for the second term of the statement.

I know most of them, but I would like to sit down for an hour or so and try every possibility.

Any help apprciated.
Bill

These may or may not be what you are talking about. If they were relevant you would have seen them long ago I imagine. Unfortunately the link that might help you is no longer displayed at MSDN. A look around the library there might help you.

I wish this link was still available it did sound promising.

Linney,

Thanks, you are the best.

If it helps any, I am curious why running an applet under control.exe can change its behavior at times from launching it from an Explorer-based GUI sequence. And why using rundll32 lets you do some installation/repair or other items that would be impossible under strait Win GUI interface.

It is not that there is any big secret about these things, it is just that they are poorly documented.

Keep digging if you have a chance.
I will too.

Next stop will be the mysteries of rgsrv.
