Quoted from the Nortel Bulletin ID:2007008156, Rev 1
Background:
The NVC version V07_01.031 was inadvertently released with a hidden expiration date of July 15th, 2007 which was left
over from Beta testing. Patch version V07_01.033 has a hidden expiration date of November 14th, 2007.
Analysis:
On or after July 15th, 2007 users with V07_01.031 installed will be able to connect to the VPN Router, but get a message
saying "This build of the Nortel VPN client has expired according to switch time. Exiting." and the client connection is disconnected
Recommendations:
CR Q01689394 has been created for this issue. A patch release version V07_01.034 will be released to address the
issue.
Required Actions:
If a customer is experiencing this issue, there are the following options:
1. Uprade to V07_01.034 when released
2. Downgrade their client to a previous version. The last released version of the client before the V07 version was
V06_01.120.
3. Change the time on the VPN Router. The client is checking the time on the VPN Router after it completes the
authentication process. If the Router reports a time greater that 7/14/2007 the NVC will give the expired error message and log off the user. If the customer changes the time on their VPN Router to 7/14/2007 or earlier, the clients running V07_01.031 will be able to connect. If the customer wants to try this solution they need to be warned about a few things. First, changing the date back will overwrite the logs already on the VPN Router for those previous days. If the customer is doing radius accounting that data will also be overwritten. There may also be issues with changing the time and users logging in with certificates.
