Content Management Question

I know that Dreamweaver pulls a local copy of the page you're editing and then you replace it back to the remote server.

I'm pretty new to DW and was wondering if it was possible to edit the content on the server without ever pulling it local? Some of the larger files take a while to download to a local copy. Maybe I should just not download the dependent files.

That is not possible
the only way you can edit a page directly on the server is using telnet and Vi editor (Text based)

atleast that is the only way I know that it can be done

I may have the total wrong end of the problem here, but you have a full set of files locally and only need to upload them to your server when they have been amended. At that point you can decide not to upload dependant files if you know they have not been changed. Live long and make your kids suffer..

I was trying to avoid having a full set of files locally. Gets kind of robust when you have five servers all stored on a local HD. For instance when I edit with FP. I simply login to the network place. It pulls up the page and then edits are done on the fly. That's what I was wonderign if DW could do? All servers are running the latest version of IIS, so maybe it's a M$ thing with FP extensions.
