I have a hard drive that has my old contact list from MS Outlook. I just need the contact list file and don't know the directory or the file type. If someone could please let me know the directory or path of where this file may be I would greatly appreciate it. THNX

Your contacts, along with any mail that was on your harddrive will all be in one (or many) .pst files. The easiest way to search for them of course would be a hard drive search of "*.pst" .

Good Luck

Once you find the PST file, don't bother trying to open it. Instead, open Outlook and hit File-Import, from a PST...and then go get the PST file you found. You'll be given a choice of what to import, and you can choose just contacts if you want. Anne Troy

Good Morning guys,
I tried your suggestions and had no success. I am running office XP and am still not able to find a single .pst file. So the question still remains..plllz Help..Thnx

If this is for work this file may reside on your company server.

Be sure to use *.pst and dont forget the period before pst or else the search wont work. If you would like to skip that step you may do so by going to this directory C:/documents and settings/your_user_folder/Application Data/Microsoft/Outlook . If your using another drive just replace the drive letter in that path. For some reason if it is on another drive you cant goto your user folder but you can get there by using this path
C:/documents and settings/default/Application Data/Microsoft/Outlook. (where C: is the letter of the drive you are lookin on) You will not be able to see some of those directories unless you they are not hidden. To make files not hidden you can goto Windows Explorer then goto tools/folder options then click on the view tab and look for Hidden Files and Folders and be sure to put a check in the radio box of SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS. That one little step will save you a bunch of time and headaches because if you don't do that you will not be able to find the file let alone the rest of those folders. The actual file you want to import is Outlook.pst....Good Luck...and I hope this in depth mini tutorial will help others as well...
