We have several hundred pc's in our domain. Recently, 10 to 20 pc's a day are losing their network connections. Once the user re-boots, it's fine for a day or two and then they lose the connection again. In the event viewer under the application log I get this:
Source: Userenv
Type:Error
Event ID: 1000
Windows cannot determine the user or computer name. Return value (1722)

It seems the error (loss of network connection) comes right after Windows Auto update has ran.

So we tried installing SP3 and disabling Auto update. That did not solve problem. And updating the driver on the NIC card. Still it did not solve problem.

Any suggestions?

This problem is on different models of Micron's and Dells.

DHCP. The pc's have been running fine for the last 2 years since we got them. This problem just started about a month ago. I'm in Hawaii and we support pc's on other islands that run static. They have not had this problem
