Hello
Some days I wonder why I don't drive a bus !!!!!

I've just installed a new 40GB Maxtor drive (limited to 32GB due to the BIOS) then formatted and partitioned it using the Maxtor utility 'Maxblast Plus II'.

Having done that (eventually) I successfully restored a disk image from our main server (Windows 2000 server) with PowerQuest Drive Image V4. The image was taken with the same software.

When I boot the server everything is fine until the status bar at the bottom of the screen reaches the right hand side. Just when I expect to see the Windows 2000 server screen the system reboots. Time and time and again. I've pressed F8 and tried going into safe mode but it doesn't even get that far.

The processor is an Intel PII MMX 300 MHz (it's only a standby server) with 128MB RAM.
The source server is an AMD 800MHz with 128MB RAM.

I'm still quite new at this server stuff so I'm getting nowhere fast with this problem. Help please !!!!

Thank you
Keith (a desperate man)

Try to reinstall OS over existed installation

I've tried installing Win2K server onto the new disk but it looks NOTHING like the server I'm trying to emulate.
I don't yet have the knowledge required to build a mirror of the main server which is why I decided to restore the image.
It looked like it would be the quickest solution but guess what, I was wrong :-) :-)

Any other ideas ????

Thanks
Keith
