I have a Cisco 4000M Series router that has a DB25 female console port. I need the pinouts for the connectors to connect from the DB25 female Console to the DB9male serial port. So the blank connectors I have are this..

1 - DB25 Male to RJ45
1 DB9 female to RJ45.

Can anyone help me?

You can find this information at the following Cisco Link:

I appreciate the assistance. The issue is Both connectors use an RJ-45 cable to connect to each other. So the pinout I need is....

DB25 Male RJ45
1 ?
2 ?
3 ?
4 ?
5 ?
6 ?
ect....

TO....

DB9 female RJ45
1 ?
2 ?
3 ?
4 ?
ect.....

Finding pinouts for these has been difficult. The link you provided is nice, however does not have the info I need.

If you pin out the DB25 connector according to the information found in the link I provided, you should be able to use a straight through cable to your DB9 connector. Are you saying that you don't have the pinouts for your DB9 either?

No pinouts for the DB9 Connector. This is not as easy as I expected.

Go to this site:

Do a "find" for this as it's typed.

Cable Pinouts (RJ-45 to DB-9)

Ok got th eDB 9 down and created. Still fuzzy on the DB25 male (Console) RJ45.
Lets see if I get this right.

RJ45 DB25 Male
1 4
2 20
3 2
4 7
5 1
6 3
7 6
8 5

HOwever I am not sure. I think this is for a DB25 FEMALE connector. Woule I just reverse it for a male connector?

No, should be no difference between Male & Female

Your pinout Doesn't look right.

Your RTS (Request to Send) should mate up with CTS (Clear to Send)

DTR (Data Terminal Ready) should mate up with DSR (Data Set Ready)

TxD (Transmit) should mate up with RxD (Receive)

GND (Ground) should mate up with GND (Ground)

And so forth. From what I read above it looks like pin 2 is wrong. Haven't checked the rest. I'd suggest printing both pages for both the DB9 and DB25. Build your connectors and make a staight through cable and you should be golden.

I apologize. I am new to Ciso routing. I really dont understand. Not sure if it is because it is late or its just confusing.

The DB9 I got fine. Plent of pinouts thanks to your help. The DB25 male that connects to the Console on the router is causing me some headache.

I don't know how else to explain what you need to do. You can order the connector from any cable manufacturer. Or you can get it from a Cisco reseller.

Thanks, But I will get this figured out.
