Hi All.

We're considering upgrading our current Norstar Meridian system and our options at this point are upgrade to ICS or go for the big capital outlay and go with the Avaya Definity Prologix with UM.

I'm having a difficult time finding technical reviews of these products. I have to report to the partners of the firm on Thursday AM.

Can anyone point me to review resources for this endeavor?

Thanks!

Try AVAYA's main web site at from there you can drill down to Products & Services or Support on all AVAYA products from the Definity line on down to the Partner ACS. You can get the level of information you need, from a general overview of each product to the technical nitty-gritty.

Easy, show them some sample commands from a Meridian, then some commands used in Definity. They'll never want to look at another Meridian!!! :)

Give me your e-mail adress and I'll sent you some information on that.

I've worked on Nortel for 8 years and we've recently been looking at other systems. The Definity is so intelligent and easy to use.

However, you're talking about the Norstar, which is a Key system. The Definity is a full-blown PBX (and a great one at that). The MICS can be purchased quite inexpensively on the 2'ndary market.

If you're looking for unified messaging and maybe also the ability for IP Telephony, you may want to look at Nortel's Business Communication Manager (BCM). People of the group, don't hate me. As I said, I love the Avaya product, but in this ever-changing economy, the ability to reuse her existing phones (a substantial cost savings) and gain quite a few of the features she's needing, it might make her look like a hero in the mgmt's eyes. ;)

Hope this helps...

Kris,

Thank you for the input. You're right that keeping the existing desksets is a huge cost savings.

The features of the definity are outstanding. However, the culture shock that may be realized by the company is also something to consider.
