I have 2 clients that have stopped backing up and are coming back with an error of connection timeout.
I have checked the hosts file i have checked the servers file. I have done a lookup and a reversed lookup but it is still coming back with these errors.

I have just had a look in the daemon.log file and it says that the group exited with return code 9.
Any have any idea what this means ?

Return code 9 sometimes can occur if login authentication fails on the backup client, or if there is some other file access issue on that client.

Confirm that a manual backup works. On the client, run something similar to:

save -s (server) -vvv -b (pool) (path\file)

Do it through command line, since only command line allows you to specify what pool you want to use. Remember the command is case sensitive. (Exception is Netware, which only has the gui interface)

On windows, if manual backups succeed then try starting the NetWorker Remote Exec Services with the same account that you logged in with, which has sufficient privs to backup all files, or try using the domain administrator account.

On the backup server, run:

savegrp -vvv -c (client) -l full (group name)

Review the output for errors.
