Any one know why every so often (bout once a month), my PDC just dies and drops all the connections....making my life hell with users???

What can i check to see whats happening?
Its an NT4 box with sp6, and i dont think its a hardware problem.

You haven't provided enough information. When you say that your PDC "dies," do you mean that it shuts down? Do you get a blank black or blue screen? Does it freeze (become unresponsive)?

Is your PDC connected to a battery backup or a surge supressor?

Do you see any errors posted to any of the event logs?

What do you have to do to get your PDC up and running again?

The more information you provide, the more likely someone will be willing and able to help you.

sorry...I'll be a bit more specific.

Basically at some point in the day all the client machines will lose their network connections and will be unable to access the server or even log in.
When i chekced the server, all the services were still running so i put this down to a fautly hub. Replaced the hu, a month later it did it again, and again all services were still running, but nobody could log on or connect.
Ther server doesnt appear to have crashed as everything is operational, and the only thing thing that happens is that all network connections are severed.
My last port of hardware call now are the network cards in the server itself, as only a reboot seems to do the trick.
If its not that tho, I'm fairly stuck on what it could be.

Thanks

SEANOS,

Does rebooting your server solve the problem?

If it does there is probably some application which is creating processes probably isn't killing them later. Eventually there won't be enough virtual RAM. The machine will be up but won't be running correctly.

Hpoe this helps you,

AP
