Hi guys,

got the following problem:

With some of our clients on the network ( 10 pct of our clients ), when we look in windows explorer , some network drives have a red cross besides them ( disconnected ).When we double click the drive, the connection is instantly rebuilt.Anyone experienced the same problem? Or could tell me possible causes for this phenomenon? The network drives are at all times available, so that isn't the problem.

kind rgds,

R.

I've had a similar problem before. It may have to do with the autodisconnect "feature" in NT and 2000. I believe this article will help you out:

If that's not it...how are these network drives being mapped? Manually, or through a logon script?

drives are mapped trough a login script.I must say, I mapped the drive manually, and it doesn't occur.Whenever mapped trough loginscript it seems to occur more often

Probably because you are not using the /persistent switch in your "net use" command in your logon script.

net use x: \\server\share /persistent:yes

Sorry, last post was hasty and incorrect after I re-read it, you wouldn't want to use /persistent in a logon script. I would check that autodisconnect setting.
