Connection issue on modem

Running two S8720's with CM 3.1.2. Two Port Networks with the cards contained in G650's. I have also included the System Configuration. I have an extension with the Type set as modem. Whether I call the modem internally or externally the results are the same. When I call the modem, I hear 1 ring, then I hear Music on Hold, and then I hear a confirmation tone as if I had just executed a TTI or as if I need to enter my Authorization code. I haved changed IP-Codec Set 1 Modem to Pass Through and also have tried the setting as Off. Either way, I have the same results. Here is the system configuration and a screenshot of the Trace I ran against the extension.

What processor are u using? The modem can be enabled using the Web interface. Its pretty straight forward to enable.

Just make sure that your usb modem is well connected on the usb port on the media server. then enable it on the web interface.

Follow the manual in setting up your pc to dial the s-series server. the idea is u need to have a ras connection before u connect using ur ASA.

Sorry, if this is confusing anyone. The modem is not used to access the S8720's. It is a modem used to connect to an application.

look at your codec for the network regions, page 2. Modem needs to be set to pass through or relay. Try both and see what works.

If you have checked your codec settings to be correct

do a trace on the modem extension when you are calling it see what happens
also paste the display station form into a post here

So I tried changing the codec set to pass through and relay, but the results were the same; sometimes I get a handshake and other times I don't. As of right now, the modem is picking up, but it does take about a dozen rings before I get the handshaking. A concern I have is at various times the modem will pick up and other times the modem won't pickup. This really has me believing this is a modem issue. However, I can definitely get the modem to handshake with the IP-Codec set to either one of the settings of Off, Pass-Through and Relay. Here is the station form.

Well, I am a firm believer in updating your firmware and software. All of your TN circuit packs have out of date firmware. I would especially update the TN793CP analog packs to FW010, and I would consider updating the IPSI to FW042. Your CLANs, and other cards are also a few versions behind. Also, what patchs are on your CM 3.1.2 switch? (telnet in to a server and run either "swversion" or "update_show"), post the results here.

You should also consider upgrading your switch to CM 3.1.4, as that is the only release that AVAYA is officially supporting of CM3. They even released the ISO of CM3, so you don't even have to buy the CD any longer (you can burn your own)

CM 3.1.4 ISO image, to be burned to a CD:

FYI, CM 3.1.4 has a new security patch, as well as a DST patch, and a CM 3.1.4 specific bug fix patch. The security patch is a linux patch, and was released for CM 3.1.4, CM 4.0, and CM 4.0.1 only.

Also, you probably should update the firmware on your TN2602AP Media Processor, the current reelase is FW033, you are runing FW025, that could also make a difference.

Thank you to everyone who replied. IPSI's and MedPros were updated to the latest release. Agreed it is always best to have all boards updated to the latest releases. Overall, I believe this was a modem issue.

Did you find an answer?

One trick I had some success with....make sure the modem AND FAX settings on the codec form are set to pass-through. Sometimes I've found the PBX detects a modem as a fax....
