Connecting XP & Linux

Hi,

I have just bought a new PC with XP Pro and I would like to install Linux on the old PC and network the two.

Does anyone of a simple description of the steps required to achieve this.

I would check out the Linux forums and FAQ's for installing and configuring the appropriate Linux distribution and Samba (the MS networking compatible file and printer sharing element).
