Connecting Win2003 server to NT4 Domain

We have an NT4 server as the domain controller. DNS server is not running. The workstations and server have our ISP's DNS addresses under the TCP/IP configuration.

We recently purchased a Win2003 server which will eventually be configured as a Citrix Metaframe server. Has issues with joining the domain (had to keep DNS address blank) and some performance issues using windows explorer.

I'm guessing I have a problem with the way I have DNS configured for the NT4 domain and the way win2003 wants to use DNS internally on our lan.

Any suggestions?
