Hi,
I have a scenario wherein i want the Outlook2000 client to connect to Exchange server from outside office network. But i dont want to bring VPN in between. I have seen the forum, all wants to connect through VPN, so i am starting a new thread.
1) I have Exchange 5.5 server whose actual IP is NATed at router.
2) From outside office network, i am able to ping that NATed IP and get reply, so i know the connection is OK. Also i can access my mailbox via OWA without any problems.
3) But i want to configure Outlook to access the Exchange server from outside. Initially i use to configure POP access for laptop users, who used to have 2 profiles, called Office & Home, When in office, connection was normal through LAN and when at home connection was made by using a POP connection via internet and the mails from Server used to get downloaded to their PST file.
4)In the control panel , i configured one more profile. In the "Dialup-networking" tab i specified the Dial-up connection that the user will be using from home, then Under "General" tab i had given "Manually controlled connection state", But when i specify the server name and username and click "Check Name" button, it never connects and gives the erorr "Network connections are preventing connection to Exchange server"
5) I have also added the following entry in the LMHOST file of the laptop and restarted it.
MAILSRV 192.168.1.10 #PRE
Still i am not able to configure the profile this way.
Can anybody help me in this. What else i need to configure in the laptop so that it can connect to the Exchange server.
Regards
Yunus
