Connecting to a Webservice in a desktop app

Hi, I have a webserver with a database and webservice running. The webservice returns the number of credits a user has used. Now i want to connect to the webservice using a desktop app written in Delphi v5. I've created the app and now need to connect to the webservice, but i dont really know where to start.

Please can anyone offer some advice or help?? or any examples/websites???

Just wondering if anyone had any ideas on the above post.

basically i need to do 2 things
1. connect to the internet using the computers default connection.
2. run some code that will run a webservice and then display the result.

Any help or advice is most welcome !!!!
