Connecting Outlook 2003 to Exchange 5.5 stops responding

I have several users already configured with outlook 2003 connecting to mailboxes on Exchange 5.5. Domain is WIndows 2000. All of a sudden today when i try creating a new exchange mailbox on a PC it just freezes. I've tried on a few computers including those that already have outlook communicating with exchange. I see no error logs generated anywhere (servers, exchange, PC). PC communicates on the network fine otherwise. I can access data files, network apps, printers, ping FQDN successfully. Tried adding exchange mailbox with IP and Server name. Looks like a comm issue but cannot pinpoint.
