Greetings all

Wonder if someone might give me an idea where to find my setup problem.. Herez the setup and problem

Using...
Router EIGRP 100
network 192.168.1.0
network 192.168.2.0
network 172.16.0.0

And...I'm using a 2950 switch for my lan stations with IP 192.168.2.2/24 - default gateway 192.168.2.1/24 to Router B e0/0

Router B_2512 s0/0 ip address 172.16.10.1/16 DCE
Router A 2620 s0/0 ip 172.16.10.1/16 DTE

Router A 2620 f0/0 ip 192.168.1.2/24

Home ROUTER(SMC) lan address 192.168.1.1/24 is connected to the f0/0 via one of its switch ports

Hope you got a clear pic of this setup.

Herez my problem. From Router A (2620), I can ping ALL devices. NO PROBLEM.. 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.2, 172.16.10.1, 172.16.10.2, 192.168.2.1, 192.168.2.2 and all pc's on the lan.

Switch 2950 (192.168.2.1) and Router B 2512 s0/0 (172.16.10.2), can ping everything BUT the SMC 192.168.1.1

For example
Switch 2950 and Router B s0/0 (172.16.10.2) can ping
192.168.1.2, 172.16.10.1, 172.16.10.2, 192.168.2.1, 192.168.2.2 and all pc's on the lan and visa version

Why am I not able to ping 192.168.1.1 even though I can ping 192.168.1.2. It's on the same subnet. I just cannot make sense of this one.

I've checked and rechecked by setting and routes. Everything is logically and physically connected according to ip route tables, but I just cannot ping 192.168.1.1 from 2512 but can ping 192.168.1.2.

Could this be a NAT problem???

Any assistance or ideas are DEEPLY Appreciated.

I'm not familiar with the SMC router configs, but are you sure you can do routing through the SMC "switch" port? It may provide layer-2 connectivity only.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm really not sure if the SMC is only a 2nd layer device. Great question. I'll look into it.

Herez more info.

I place the SMC on one of the VLAN 2950 ports along with placing the PC's on the same VLAN as the 2950,

If SMC's Lan gateway is 192.168.1.1

The PC's gateway are 192.168.1.1

I can surf until my "hearts" content. Does this tell me that the SMC "through" the switch port will route out the packets?

I guess I really need to contact SMC right?

Next question? Can't I just use the 2620 f0/0 port for pppoe wan link, setup a ppp dialer, (along with setting up nat translations), and i'd be off to the web...right?

Questions, questions, questions. Wherez the teacher when you need em'
Thanks again ya'll
