Connecting laptop to PC direct cable conn

Hi, dont know if anyone can help...
Trying to connect my laptop to desktop PC (both Win98) via direct cable. Desktop is host, lappy is guest.
now, i can get them to connect and 'see' each other, but when i try to see the files on either comp, it wont show them.
Ive enabled file sharing, and theyre in the same workgroup.. any ideas?

Have you selected the folders or drive that you want to share by right-clicking on that item and enabling the sharing features?
