I'm testing a 200r on a Dlink 300G dsl modem.

I've copied the mac from the nic that I used to setup the Dlink into the 200r. I have a static IP but as I usually do I set it to use DHCP, which does seem to work on the symantec as it has the IP address, gateway and dns pulled from the ISPs DHCP (and passed from the dlink).

The 200r says connected, but i can't ping anything outside. I have it set to unrestricted but nothing, nor can browse the web, I can't ping any of our static IPs that we have on other connections nor can I browse the web. I didn't think I needed to setup any rules (it is set to no restrictions for everyone on the access filters).

I feel like I'm being silly, but can't see how!

can anyone help?

If this is a new device, it is possible that it is defective. You could try reinstalling the latest firmware on it and reconfiguring.

I presume your Dlink is configured for passthrough mode.

Have you attempted to ping in from one of your other connections?

For your testing, are you connecting directly to the 200r or are you routing to it from a network? Is the 200r's DHCP supplying the correct gateway and DNS to your local machine?

Thanks for your reply

I finally gave up on the DLINK, its a device I've used to connect directly to a laptop for a long time but it seems doesn't seem to like some routers. Even the way I was getting as far as I was I was having to be a bit devious with cloning the mac as it doesn't directly support this. I didn't think there would be a problem, but it seems there is - its half bridge mode or pass through dhcp spoof thingie doesn't seem to work that well.

I replaced the dlink with an origo that at least does pretend to support the bridging. All seems well at the moment touch wood.

Thnx again
