Connect visual basic 3 to oracle 8 with odbc using windows 2000

Hi all.

I'm migrating some applications from visual basic 3 to visual basic 6. The thing is that I haven't been able to connect vb3 to this oracle 8 server that I have, it keeps sending error messages like "MESSAGE NOT FOUND" and things like that

Do I have to install a particular oracle client version to make it work ? I've tried with the oracle8 client, but it won't work

I'm accepting any suggestion anyone can tell.
