Rather than using a USB wire to connect a PC to a 4 port USB hub, is it possible to do this via Blue Tooth?
What will the effect on speed be?

Connect just to the hub, or are you using USB to connect to the Internet?

Bluetooth connects at 1 Mbps, way off of even USB 1.1's speed (1.5 Mbps). USB 2.0 (480 Mbps) slaughters it. This will be apparent in large file transfers but will also limit bandwidth in Internet usage.

There is a wireless USB spec but the devices I've seen aren't up to snuff yet.

Also, bluetooth and infrared doesn't always connect first time - the default driver is sometimes incorrect. If it doesn't work, check your drivers.

Bluetooth isn't very fast but it goes through walls. The annoying thing is my neighbour has a bluetooth enabled mobile which, I think he leaves near our common wall. My PC picks it up straight away, along with any other bluetooth enabled devices which come near the room. Quite amusing initially but quite annoying after the first few times.

I am not using USB to connect to the Internet. I have a wireless DSL modem / router to connect to the internet.

I have a USB hub to connect to peripheral devices such as a scanner, dvd writer, printer etc. I was just hoping to find a method to connect to these devices wirelessly!

You and a whole lot of other people too, [smile]

From reviews I've read this tech still has growing pains, but UWB will eventually connect 100 times faster than Bluetooth:
