Hello. Title this "old dog can't remember old tricks". I just removed a sonic wall firewall. I need to connect my cisco router to my windows 2000 lan. The firewall was the gateway. Now, I have my server and can't remember what I have to do to make the server the gateway (it's been 6 years). I work at a school so I don't deal with this much. But, the server was and remains the dhcp, dns, and wins server. Do I need an additional nic to plug the router into? If anyone can refer me to a faq or something like that to help jog my memory on connections and setup, I would greatly appreciate it. Dave

yes, if you want your server to be the only computer connected directly to the Internet install a second NIC that will go to the router. Run the Routing and Remote Access wizard to configure your server to act as the gateway for all Internet traffic. The wizard is straigh forward and will give you a choice of something like "configure the server so all machines access the Internet through it." been a few months since I had to run the wizard so I don't recall the exact verbiage.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark
