I need to backup files from a co-workers Win98 machine. The backup PC is running NT 4.0 and logs on to our domain. All machines in her workgroup can access her PC, but I can't get the NT machine to connect. It asks for a user name and password. Do I need to get the Win98 user to enter hers? Also can I get NT to remember this password so I can automate the backup? Thanks in advance.

your post is a little unclear. NT machine is member of domain. 98 machine is member of workgroup. Are these both on the same physical network? You're backing up 98 machine - but trying to connect to 98 machine from NT? (I would have expected the other way round). But the fact that a username/password is being asked for presumes the two machines are connected and seeing each other. So, presume the 98 share must have a password set up on it (because when 98 drives/folders are just shared, other machines on network automaticaly have access). So, need 98 logon user name and password associated with share (or remove the password, end of problem). Hope this helps, but as I said at the top - its unclear, so don't know if I've got the right handle on your setup.
