Confusion in different Profile Managers 1

<br><font color=Mahroon>HI All</font><br><br>I was doing some test with the <i>Profile managers</i>.. <br>i want to create a <b>DATALESS profile manager TEST</b> which has all the endpoint as subscribers.. <br>after this i created a <i>profile manager(autopak) in Software Distribution</i> where i want <b>TEST</b> to be subscribed.. but when i tried this these was an error message that u cannot subscribe a dataless profile manager to a database profile manager of software inventory...<br><font color=Mahroon><b><i>my basic plan is that for doing softwaredistribution i dont want to subscribe end points everytime in all profile managers i create.. for this i want to create one profile manager that has end points subscribed to it and i can subscribe this profile manager to any other profile manager for Inventory or DM or Software Distribution.</i></b></font><br> <p>Ashish Vashisht<br><a href=mailto:vashishtashish@yahoo.com>vashishtashish@yahoo.com</a><br><a href= > </a><br>

Well, if you going to use ProfileManagers as subscribers to another ProfileManager, they can't be of type dataless ProfileMangers, you have to disable this, and then you will see that it will work as you've planed.<br><br>/Conny

What i would do is this.
Since I am only after the endpoints create a profile manager that is Dataless on the local TMR and then subscribe the individual enpoints to that pm. Repeat this for the inventory PM etc.

You should have no problems subscribing a dataless PM to a database PM. You just cannot not do the opposite (subscribe a database PM to a Dataless PM). We do this all day long in our enviroment due to our 18,000+ Endpoints we need to manage for Software Dist, Inventory and other processes.
