I'm just curious on something:
With pegausus mail, for example, when sending out an email there is the option of having the sending notified when the user reads the mail.
How does this process work? Does the mail set a flag on the server in which it gets sent to which in turn sends a flag when the user downloads off the server?
I'm trying to assess the security risks here as well... If you can understand it, you probably don't.

when you select that option your email cleint is sending a "flag" with the message that waits until the email is opened then that user has the option to send a receipt to let you know they got it. their email cleint in return sends it back to you, that is if they said "yes" to do so. does that answer your question? "Jack of all trades. Master of none."

So you only recieve confirmation if the other user's email client has their option set to reply to that confirmation? If you can understand it, you probably don't.

yes, but it also can be set to ask before sending and they can select "no" if they want to. its like a "pop-up" box that appears when the email is opened. "Jack of all trades. Master of none."
