Does anyone know how to adjust the time that a image expires on a tape without adjusting the retention?
My dilemma is that company policy requires that the retention be set to 2 weeks, I cant change this.
My Full backups are set to kick off at 12:00 AM midnight Saturday morning and VERITAS is time stamping the images to expire at 12:00 AM midnight as well. There is not enough time for the image to expire before the backup starts. I need at least 10-15 minutes for the image to expire before the backup starts.
Anyone have any ideas how to do this, I would like the image to expire at least around 11:00 -11:30 PM. I spoke with a VERITAS support tech and he advised to manually expire the image at 11:00 AM and when VERITAS runs again automatically in 12 hours at 11:00PM that would get the images expiring properly at 11:00PM, but this has not worked. There is only one image on this tape, one full backup. When I expire the image at 11:00AM there is nothing left to expire at 11:00PM.
I appreciate the help and time with this.
