Configuring DSA for use with 8400b data module 1

Hello,

I recently got this to work thru HYPERTERMINAL but i can't figure out how to submit changes thru it. Also i can't get the phone attached to it to work and would like to.

We added some telecom staff and the purpose for installing this would be to give myself a dedicated connection to the pbx if someone else is dialed in thru INADS. This connection seems much faster than the dial up thru INADS.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

To be brutally honest, hyperterm sucks... If you need DSA, somebody on this list might be willing to send it to you if you contact them directly.

I was able to make SecureCRT work with VTY220 or something like that, but never Hyperterm.

As far as your phone not working, you need to make sure you turn on the Data Option=data-module and on the Data Module/Station tab, punch in your data-module extension. Make sure you have the COR/COS on that page set correctly as well.

Thanks for responding. I wouldn't have been able to get any of this to work without TEK-TIPS. Yes hyperterm does suck! I do have DSA ver r1.5.06 and it works great thru an analog line to the INADS.

p.s.when you say r11 configs, you mean g3 release 11?

Yeah, sorry... All the versions numbers blend together after an upgrade or two. R011i.03.1.531.0 I think is officially what I am using.

No problem just making sure i'm on the same page. I am on v8.

Ok check the site i linked to. I deleted my data module and rebuilt it onto a station as you suggested (or atleast how i interpreted). There is a screen shot at the top of the current config. I have all screen shots from how I have it configured.

I can't even connect with hyperterminal to the switch now.
Maybe it's a problem actually on the data module itself

Luckily this is something to keep my brain occupied during a slow time and there is no pending deadline.

TCONN you rule. What you told me was the major difference in getting this to work.

To break down what I did:

1. Followed Tconns directions to set up the data module on a phone port. (on tab 1 of station form: data module=y,enables tab 5 on station page)

2. played with the values in the s24 registry to turn on "use with phone".

3. configured DSA to 9600,8,none,1

4 removed "atdt" from the DSA dial string and just left "1900" which is the netcon huntgroup.

Everything works. It seems a little slow but oh well. I may remove it from the phone and make it stand alone i think i can get 19200 out of it.
