I have recently changed ISP to an ISP running Windows 2000 server. I need a facility to allow users to anonymously download a 10Mb file from my web area without compromising the security of the rest of my web site. My ISP is happy to provide the service but doesn't know how to configure it as it is not a common request for him apparantly.
In case it is not clear the user will simply click on a link in his browser such as the one below to start the download without being asked for any username or password
ftp://ftp.mysite.com/downloads/myfile.zip
I myself am unfamiliar with Windows 2000 Server and cannot tell him how to do it except tell him my previous ISP provided the server. Can anybody tell me exactly what is required step by step so that I can pass on? Is it as simple as setting a directory permission on my download directory for example. If so how is that done on Windows 2000 and what settings are required. Any help will be really appreciated here.
