Greetings,
this is my first post to the forums. Nice to know there is such a large base of know-how. I'll get to the point.
I am suspect of having a security issue on my network and to find facts, avoid, and prevent any further issues i need to monitor my network. I have a cisco 3620 router. I want to port monitor / SPAN the entire network and have the traffic sent to my analysing software to my IP address. however, i have DHCP addressed network. if i use the connection without letting it time out (3 day limit) then i will retain the same ip, however it is not always the case.
my specific question is, how do i configure my router to enable Spanning? i admit im a bit confused when my software vendor tells me i have to enable it on the switch, as switches are non-configurable (at least mine are..) i assume they mean Cisco's EtherSwitch (router switch software).
if anyone can point me to information on the web, user manual etc, i would be grateful. i have been searching all day with no luck.
kind regards
