Outlook Express on Win 98SE.
I'm a bit new to Outlook, as for years I've been spoilt by AOL's excellent e-mail system.
The problem is, is there any way to configure it to recieve headers and attachment info only, without having to wait for the lot to download first? As you can imagine, with several ettached files, some wanted, some not, this can take a while.
The idea being that I can then selectivly download the files I have time to download at that moment, and no others, and delete the rubbish.

Cheers.
My suggestions are what I would try myself. If incorrect, I welcome corrections to my rather limited knowledge. Andy.

You may want to inquire with your ISP if their mail server supports IMAP instead of just POP.

With POP you do end up downloading everything off of the server. That is the whole purpose of the POP protocol. If you are able to use IMAP you can configure OE to connect using IMAP which means that you will work actively with the messages on the server rather than downloading everything. But this also means you can't work offline with OE and the mail on the server.

If the ISP allows IMAP then ask for their instructions on how to configure OE for such. joegz

Thanks, joegz, that explains it I think.
I'll make enquiries.
