We are migrating from a frame-relay connection over to a full-mesh MPLS network between our 4 offices. Now, I am a recent CCNA, and I have been combing Cisco's support site for configuration assistance, but I can't find any documents that provide a clear-cut, concise explanation of how to configure MPLS on my (CE) router. I have the IP addresses for my interface, the ISP's router, and the encapsulation type, but I don't know how to configure this information for an MPLS interface.

I can find stuff about configuring "vrf" names and routes and all, but it's for the PE routers, not the CE routers.

has anybody done this before? any tips would be appreciated!! thank you!

The CE routers don't need any MPLS configuration, all this is done on the PE routers. Depending on the routing protocol in use you will need to deal with this, so routing metric's and redistribution may be relevent for you. Mosy Service Providers will only run BGP (in the UK at least) so you may have fun making sure all your routes are there and they are going the correct way, especially if as you say it is fully meshed.

There are some good examples with configs here:

But as I said you won't get involved in the VRF's as this is handled by the SP's PE router.

So you're saying all I have to configure on my routers' interfaces in the IP address (provided by my ISP), and the encapsulation type?

If that's all it is, I feel really silly.

I have thought about switching my routing protocol from RIPv2 to EIGRP or OSPF... would one of these be more 'suitable' for an MPLS mesh? I'm concerned about the amt of traffic that will be flowing through these lines, I'd like to streamline it as much as possible.

And I'm not looking forward to re-writing all of my ACL's - yikes!

thanks for the info, it is big help!

That's pretty much it as far as configuration. IP add on your serial encap and routing protocol and you're off. The config themselves are very easy. That's one of the pluses to it in that you don't need to manage all the sub interfaces anymore.
